Nyssa Arcos

Director of Program Operations and Training, Texas

As Director of Program Operations and Training, Nyssa provides personalized mentoring to classroom educators using Globaloria. As one of the first Globaloria teachers in Texas, Nyssa has had the opportunity to empower students and teachers through Globaloria's innovative approach to teaching and learning computer science. During her time as a Globaloria educator at East Austin College Prep, Nyssa's students designed and programmed creative educational games that were recognized at state and national level competitions such as the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and NCWIT Aspirations in Computing. In addition to these accomplishments, her students presented their Globaloria games at professional conferences and STEAM events in Silicon Valley and New York City. They have showcased their work among industry professionals at SXSW Gaming and were the first students to participate in the inaugural SXSWedu Expo and SXSWedu Playground. They have also presented on their experiences and innovations at TCEA and ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education).

Prior to working as a Globaloria teacher, Nyssa was an elementary bilingual teacher in Elgin and Pflugerville ISD. She taught middle and high school Globaloria classes and was the academic technology specialist at EAPrep. She most recently worked in the role of instructional technology coordinator at a school district in San Antonio where she supported district-wide implementation of digital educational programs. Nyssa is excited to work with Globaloria to support school district initiatives for providing innovative learning opportunities and computer science for all students.
