Formerly VP Product and Technology, Shannon led the conceptualization and development of Globaloria's blended learning platform, game design courses, professional development programs for educators and technology development. She brought twenty years of leadership experience as a producer, writer, and editor of innovative technology applications and multimedia programs that entertain, educate and inspire action.
Since 2006, Shannon played a key role in conceiving, launching and growing Globaloria as Vice President of Programs and Production at World Wide Workshop. She also led the development of the Globeys Game Design Competition for students and the Globaloria Educators Inspiration Awards. She was instrumental in Globaloria winning the Software & Information Industry Association’s CODiE award for Best Project-Centered Learning Solution in 2014.
At the World Wide Workshop she led three additional edtech innovation projects: 1. Next Billion Learners: an initiative which developed creative learning software for low-cost laptops in partnership with Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child (OLPC); 2. My Global Life: a project funded by Cisco in which Israeli students collaborated virtually to develop games about global issues; and 3. My Science Life: a project in which scientists at Schlumberger and students around the world created interactive science simulations.
From 2001-2005, Shannon was a Supervising Producer at Viacom’s MTV Digital Media group where she launched groundbreaking initiatives like MTV Mobile and The After Show, MTV’s first original web-based series. She was a key member of the taskforce that developed MTV’s digital content management system, which was adopted by all Viacom channels. From 1994-2000, Shannon was an Executive Producer at MaMaMedia, the first website for kids to create and share their own digital media projects, and a Producer at Knowledge Adventure and Davidson and Associates where she produced CD ROM games such as Reading Blaster 6-9.
Shannon holds a B.A. in journalism and history from the University of Southern California and a M.Ed. in instructional technology from the University of Virginia. As an expert producer of elearning platforms, content and tools, Shannon has a passion for projects that “empower learners to have a voice, and that give them a palette of powerful, easy-to-use tools for self-expression.”
