On Friday, April 22, 2017, Mr. A. J. Crabill, the Texas Education Agency Deputy Commissioner of Governance, responsible for school improvement, governance, and districts of innovation (formerly served eight years on the board of the Kansas City Public Schools), travelled to Beeville ISD, to visit some of the innovative educational programs being implemented throughout the district. Bonnie Montoya, Director for Talent Development and Acquisition at the Superintendent’s office, wrote:
“I work closely with Dr. Susana Garza and Dr. Marc Puig and wanted to share our success regarding TEA’s visit, our Board of Trustees, and Globaloria! It was a fabulous day to be an educator for all of us! These pictures do not do justice to the amazing learning going on in our classrooms with coding and everything else the Globaloria Program has to offer. It was phenomenal to see that our students excited and well-versed in their project work. The Commissioner and every other adult in the room felt their positive energy, and witnessed learning at its finest demonstrated by our students.”
Mr. Crabill had the opportunity to hear about learning Computer Science through Globaloria from some star teachers and students at the Fadden-McKeown-Chambliss Elementary School in Beeville ISD.
Beeville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Puig, hosted Carbill’s visit with Dr. Susana Garza, the district’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Nyssa Arcos, Globaloria Director of Training & Support, joined the tour and took some photos of the youngest cohort of CS students in action.
